Arlington

Arlington County has a population of approximately 240,000. It is across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. Arlington is a County, but is often just referred to as Arlington. It has its own county government.

It has consistently been ranked as a top place to live in the U.S. Arlington is home to many federal government agencies, major corporations, tech-start ups, and the biggest news recently is that Amazon chose Arlington for its HQ2. Plus, Arlington parks continue to be ranked in the top 5 cities in the U.S. holding 4th place, by the Trust for Public Lands.

Arlington Public Schools were ranked the second best school district in Virginia, according to the 2022 Best Schools and Districts Rankings in the U.S. released by Niche. Nearby Falls Church City Public Schools were ranked first.

The average school test scores in Arlington are 25% higher than the national average and Arlington residents are among some of the most educated in the nation with 72% of the population holding bachelor’s degrees. For anyone moving to the Arlington area in search of higher education, there are multiple institutions in and around the city.

It’s hard to talk about Arlington without also discussing Washington, D.C.. Though the cities are technically in different municipalities, they share a common transit system, populace, and history. Many of the monuments and attractions that people associate with DC are actually in Arlington. This means that residents of Arlington have easy access to all that DC has to offer.
